DJ Cue

DJ Cue aka Frank Cuevas is an essential member to the history of the scene in the San Francisco Bay Area. Cue (Frank Cuevas) originates from Daly City, CA, and first jumped onto the turntables in 1986. He co-created the first battle DJ break record, Hamster Breaks, Vol. 1 and is part in the Bullet Proof Scratch Hamsters along with DJ's Quest and Eddie Def. In 1994 he opened Cue's Records which was a pioneering record store for the Bay Area and West Coast DJ scene. Along with Eddie Def, Cue is a member of DMT (Drum Machine Technicians) and the Space Travelers (Eddie Def, Quest, Marz, Eddie K, & Cue), of which he has produced several albums. Inspired by the independent artists he worked with he released Cue's Hip Hop Shop in 1998 that featured some of hip-hops most respected DJ's such as Roc Raida, Rob Swift, and Mr Dibbs, as well as MC's like Rasco, Eddie K, Antares, and Third Sight. In 2000, he released Cue's Hip Hop Shop: Vol. 2, a collection of tracks featuring Cue's DJ and producer friends like Joe Quixx, Oakland Faders, Top Rawmen, and SWOT Team.  In 2012 He released Special Tech Dj a project dedicated to an electronic and breakbeat tracks based in virtual world of futuristic beat battles.  Pushing the Special Tech DJ concept forward he opened the Special Tech DJ shop in San Bruno, CA to teach DJ lessons and provide others with a chance to throw live events.

Since 1991 DJ Cue has been starting businesses and music projects with the focus on representing the independent artists creative way of thinking.  It all started in high school when he was set on being in the music industry as a producer or label owner.   Inspired by labels like Ruthless Records (Easy-E) and Luke Skyywalker (Luther Campbell) Records he wanted to make records and distribute them on his own.  In 1991 he went to college to learn audio engineering and broadcasting and during this time he met his crew of DJ's Eddie Def and Quest.  From that moment until now he has been part of a pioneering crew that still has not stopped creating music and being active with other groups and projects in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.

Cue's current projects for 2023 include 2 new albums; a follow up to the first Special Tech DJ album and a 1 solo DJ album (Untitled).
